GOALS AND OBJECTIVES STATEMENT
A CLEARER VIEW OF THE INTENT AND PRACTICES OF CHAIN
|
1) SHARING THE GOOD NEWS WITH OTHERS:
ACHIEVING GOAL: CHAT (Director of Communications/Systems Manager)
Chat is real communication in real time. It is a place to develop personal relationships. This is a medium where one on one and small group discussions can be of great encouragement.
Director of Communications (DC) oversees, motivates and enforces guidelines. The DC appoints ChanOps and trains, retrains and works with them to become effective moderators and initiators (better word). The DC will schedule ops/members to be on channel 24/7.
Systems Manager (SM) oversees CHAIN IRC server operations and appoints IRCops, and monitors channel creation. The SM also trains IRCops and ChanOps on systems issues.
ACHIEVING GOAL: PEN PALS (Outreach Director)
Pen Pal ministries give people a choice to be or to have a pen pal for the express purpose of encouragement, fellowship and support.
The Outreach Director (OD) screens all pen pal applicants and arranges for approved applicants to share email addresses. The OD report any praise reports or updates about the Pen Pal Ministry to the editor.
ACHIEVING GOAL: BBS (Executive Director)
The BBS allows members to post prayer requests, praise reports and news about themselves or to keep others up to date when being online may be difficult or impossible.
Executive Director monitors posts to make sure no offensive or insulting posts are placed on the BBS.
ACHIEVING GOAL: CHAIN GAMES (Activities Director)
CHAIN's founders originally met while on a game network. Playing games is a good way to get people together and taking the pressure off the need to keep up a conversation but still allows sharing to go on. The CHAIN games will be designed to help people become familiar with scripture (Bible Trivia) and each other (Who Is It?).
The Activities Director (AD) will review game material and find hosts for the games. They will also make sure game times are posted on the web site. Public games and member only games should be arranged as appropriate.
2) HELPING OTHERS AND OURSELVES TO STRENGTHEN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD:
ACHIEVING GOAL: BIBLE STUDY (Bible Study Advocate)
Bible Study will always be of a portion of the Bible and is especially designed help reach those unable or unwilling to find a local study to attend. It is open to everyone and endeavors to help people to fall in love with God's Word. Hopefully participants will then find local studies to participate in or even lead! Of course, it is also to provide a place for those who want to know more about Jesus and to help them choose to follow Him.
Bible Study Advocate helps plan, oversee and encourage Bible study for members, guests, seekers. Bible study eventually needs to be available every morning and night of the week. (24/7 is a stretch but would be desirable)
ACHIEVING GOAL: PRAYER TEAM (Intercessory Director)
Prayer team prays and encourages those who post prayer requests. All prayer requests are prayed for and individually responded to. Prayer team members also compile a local network of prayer warriors when possible.
Intercessory Director (ID) interviews those interested in joining the prayer team. The ID manages and updates the prayer board, assigns a prayer warrior for follow-up on each prayer request. The ID encourages the Prayer Team in a monthly "Prayer Report" to all Prayer Team Members and makes sure reports are made to the CHAIN Editor on what God is doing.
ACHIEVING GOAL: CHAIN ARTICLES (Executive Director/Editor)
Articles of interest should be updated monthly with some articles going to the Library when they are removed from the CHAIN News. These include, News, Inspiration, Stories, Point of View articles, Testimonies and announcements.
The Executive Director/Editor asks for, compiles, reviews and edits all material to be placed on the web.
ACHIEVING GOAL: CHAIN LIBRARY (Director of Information)
The CHAIN Online Libray Bible is to be filled with inspiration, challenging, ehortational materials in keeping with Biblical principles. It will also contain testimonies and possibly archived Bible Studies studies.
Director of Information places materials in the Library after review by a Library Panel & approval by the Board of Directors. These are to be inspirational no matter the type of content. They will actively seek to get member testimonies, original material or any other published materials to be submitted for approval. They will obtain permission to place any copyrighted materials in the Library before placing them there.
3) BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH NETWORKING RESOURCES:
ACHIEVING GOAL: CHAIN NETWORK (Network Team)
This network is a global list of churches, fellowships, food banks, abuse shelters, bible studies, counselors, contacts and people meeting special needs or providing special resources. Even finding a place to stay when traveling. This will be a confidential list available only to the Board of Directors and a Network Team. Staff, members and staff can submit requests for help to the network by members. There are times when help is needed quickly or is of critical nature. The team will attempt to build a network so that even those in danger can find a place of refuge. There are many who need help, advice or to find a place to fellowship. Non members can ask, but requests will be carefully reviewed where safety is a concern.
The Network team (NT) is a critical component of CHAIN. This network will attempt to build a global network from information found: online; from friends; from members; from guests and from printed materials and advertisements.
ACHIEVING GOAL: MEMBERSHIP (Membership Director)
Membership applications serve to help CHAIN understand who a member is. It helps to put resources together and creates a database of believers to accomplish the goals of CHAIN. The database also helps familiarize members of each other's background. Hopefully it will allow us to prevent people with: personal agendas; criminal or fraudulent intent; or members of cults from joining CHAIN.
Membership Director (MD) will process applications, place bios on the web site, notify members of their usernames and passwords, keep the email and birthday list updated, submit articles to the Executive Director as to news of what is happening in membership. They will work with the Birthday Club to make sure people are sent Birthday greetings.
ACHIEVING GOAL: BEREAN CLUB (Director of Information)
This ministry will allow CHAIN or members to place books into circulation. A person will ask to place an approved book on the web site and people can sign up to receive that book to read and then pass on. The only cost is the postage to send the book to the next person. It is designed to get exceptional books into the hands of those who would benefit from them . Many libraries, especially small rural ones, do not carry a large selection of chriistian books so this becomes a real blessing. Members will have to sign books out. Evangelical materials and Bibles will be provided, when available, at no charge to new believers or those wanting to know more about Jesus.
The Director of Information (DI) will place approved titles on the web page for people to request. They will send the materials to the requestor.
ACHIEVING GOAL: CHAIN LINK (Director of Finance)
This ministry is to be responsible for the finances of CHAIN and is the link between us and others. It allows us to be faithful in accounting for monies given and helping others by giving a portion to God's work.
The Director of Finance (DF) will receive, account for and disburse funds for CHAIN. A Board member will be required to co-sign any checks. A full report will be made on the web site each month. CHAIN will give to the community by sponsoring a child, giving to food banks or contributing to a solid community need. All financial activity is open for review.
